There's so much beauty in Reno and its surrounding areas.  Here are some parks and playgrounds I highly recommend and have been taking my family to for many years.

(Downtown Reno, scenic views, 40 acres off leash dog park, shaded arboretum, three children's play structures, many trails available(paved and dirt), restrooms, bike friendly)


(South Reno, two play structures, picnic shelter with BBQ, Restroom, Basketball court, paved 3-milee loop trail, 4 way seesaw, swings for babies and big kids, hills, grass, wetlands, wildlife, biking, photography, sunsets, special events)

5.  Crystal Peak Park
(15 mins. from Reno, 0.6 loop dirt trail, scenic, partial shade, fishing (permit), kid friendly, picnics, restrooms, Truckee River, no playground)

(South Reno, Merry-Go-Round, Big and Small Play Structures, Hilly Grass Area, Lower Thomas Creek Trail, Fall Foliage, BBQ Pavilion, Benches and Picnic Tables, Horseback Riding, Equestrian Parking, About 1 mile loop trail, No Restrooms, No Shade except in pavilion)


(14 min. from South Reno, twp play structures, short paved pathway, no restrooms- porta potty 2 min. away, grass, trails, creek, horseshoe pits, pavilion with BBQ, plenty of trees and shade, picnic tables and benches, fall foliage, about 1 mile loop dirt trail)

9.  Galena Creek Regional Park
(15 min. from South Reno, kid & dog friendly, loop dirt hikes, partial shade hikes, rentable group picnic area, fish pond, creeks, tables and benches, amphitheater, dog friendly, poop bags, restrooms, no playground, rentable buildings)


(Guided Tours for fee, Swimming pool for fee, reservable pavilions for big events, two play structures, expansive grass areas, BBQ picnic areas, plenty of parking, no pets allowed)


(Next to Virginia City Foothills, Lookout on the way to Virginia City, 2 acres, no restrooms, no playground, ruins, scenic views, off road driving trail)
